OUR MISSION
Our mission is to advocate for and support the Chinese (Mandarin) Immersion Program in District 220,
Barrington, Illinois: its families, staff and teachers both in and outside of the classroom with advice, materials
and experiences not covered by our tax dollars. We aim to build a strong relationship and sense of community
between BCIC, the school district, teachers, staff, participating families and the community at large.

Cohorts & Locations
The district rotates where the incoming kindergarten cohort starts school between three host schools.
Cohorts are currently limited to 48 students with 50% of those seats reserved for the host school and 50% for other district schools.
If the host school doesn’t fill their seats, children on the waitlist from other schools will be offered those open spots.
Students attend the same elementary school for grades K-5 and the teachers rotate schools.
All students continuing with Chinese after elementary school attend Station Middle School.
– SPECIAL NOTES –
If the program is not located at your home school the district will arrange FREE bussing for your student.
Students may enter the program through winter break of first grade with NO PRIOR background or exposure to Mandarin.
After winter break of first grade, students are welcome to join, but must prove proficiency in Mandarin.
** Cohort locations are subject to change, please check with D220 for the most updated information**
