Hello BCIC volunteers and CI students!
BCIC is excited to host our third annual Lunar New Year celebration at the Barrington White House on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in the afternoon. We are looking for Parent/Adult Volunteers to help us host a festive celebration of cultural performances and interactive activities, including Chinese games, arts and crafts.
This year, we are hosting an open house style party from 1-5pm. Two volunteer shifts are available. The first shift is 12:30-3:00pm, which includes help with setup. You may sign up for more than one shift. If your talents include face painting or Chinese calligraphy art, we would especially appreciate your help with those stations.
Service credit is available for high school students and 8th grade NJHS.
Barrington White House is located at 145 W Main Street, Barrington, Illinois.

| Check in Assistant – Front Door | Welcome families to the event. Check-in guests and distribute pre-paid tickets. Sell concessions tickets. |
| Activity Station Host | Host games and interactive activities, assist as needed. |
| Game Room Host | Host Chinese games in library, assist or play games with students as needed. Knowledge of Chinese games such as Weiqi, Chinese Checkers, Mahjong, etc. preferred, but you do not need to know how to play every game to volunteer. |
| Facepainting Artist | Paint festive designs on students’ faces. Previous facepainting experience preferred. |
| Calligraphy Artist | Teach students how to paint a Lunar New Year greeting in Chinese. |
| Entertainment Host | Welcome guests and help families. Participate and assist younger students. Martial arts experience please. |
| Concessions – Ballroom | Serve customers drinks and snacks, collect food tickets. |
| General Assistance | Student volunteer who is comfortable serving in any of the roles above. You will be directed to a station based on need on day of the party. |
